Dear Anthea |

All my percussion teachers suggested I would be better skilled if I included dance in my practice, and my initial contact with Anthea was in the context of improving my drumming. I left my first Afrofusion dance class and most subsequent classes drenched in sweat, pumped and feeling much more confident in being able to move and express with my body. Not only had I enjoyed a very fun and healthy hour, but also experienced a true cultural exchange. As it happens Anthea is not only a skilled exponent of her African heritage dance but also a highly trained dancer and teacher in many other dance disciplines. She has over the last year conducted tuition in Latin dance styles and facilitated musical events to promote dancing and opportunities to practice. I totally recommend her classes which she now runs from her studio in Doonan. Cameron |

I attended one of Anthea's early dance classes and before she started the hard task of teaching me rhythm she insisted on teaching me to walk. Walk! I can walk I thought but then realised that I walked apologetically, with a stoop, hiding my body. Anthea had me strutting around like a peacock by the end of that first session. I can honestly say you cannot dance well without my inner African. My proud walk still remains today, several years later. But it's more than a new walk, it's a change of attitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you. |
