Toddler Pool Review

Toddler/kiddie Pool Review

Leading into Summer you need to be aware of ALL ingredients, not just in our food or cosmetics. Have you ever read the label on a blow up pool? The main type of plastic in toddler blow up pools is Polyvinyl Chloride, known as PVC. This is a very common material in kiddie pools and unfortunately it is a toxic one. Its chemical additives include phthalates, cadmium, lead and other things that are potentially harmful to your child’s health.

Both PVC and BPA (bisphenol-A) (remember BPA is still legal in Aus) two extremely common kiddie pool materials, are known to be damaging to children’s health. Using PVC products can lead to the dermal exposure and possible ingestion of harmful chemicals. BPA has been linked to cancer and is a known endocrine disrupter causing effects on the brain and prostate gland in children.

Hard plastic kiddie pools tend to be safer on average, because of the types of plastic they’re typically made out of.

Choose hard plastics made out of this:
* “2” high-density polyethylene or “HDPE”
* “4” low-density polyethylene or “LDPE”
* “5” polypropylene or “P”

Always read the labels. It should tell you what the materials are and if not contact the manufacturer prior to purchasing it.
